As requested by Bernie Mahowald, on Jalluary 17.2002 we visited Westwood Elementary to
discuss the lintels added in FSK 1.w for the neW window openings in the gymnasium. Cu:rrently
there is an existing reinforced bond beanl in the wall above the future window opening. I~ is
stru~turaL1y acceptable to use this existing bond beam for the lintel instead of the double angles
detailed in FSK 2w. The 8 inch masonry jambs shall be grQuted solid for at least two courses
below lintel bearing.
