The following is our response to your plan review letter dated March 16, 2001.
Code Letter Comments:
General Comments
1. Separate permits for Building, Plumbing, HV AC, and sprinklers required.
2. Electrical permits will be required from the Minnesota State Board of electricity.
3. Submit sprinkler plans designed by licensed contractor/designer. May be
submitted at a later date.
4. Automatic shutoff required in air handling units in excess of2000 CFM.
5. UMC 1009 (a). See section 16721.
6. Fire/smoke dampers to be tested at final installation.
7. A licensed sprinkler contractor for compliance must evaluate sprinkler system.
UFC 1001.5.1 report of inspection will be required.
8. Sht SO.I: Concrete footings is greater than 2500 psi and requires testing. UBC
1701.5 1 excp. 2.
9. Submit the Structural Engineers requirements for Special Inspections UBC
1701.5. See enclosed.

Plannine: Department Comments:
1. Screen rooftop equipment per City Code 1107.2202 (1) with one of the
following methods:

3. A fence or screen. The height of which extends at least 1 foot above the
top building.

4. The roof equipment shall be painted to match the roof facing material of
building.
5. Grainwood Chiller shall be entirely screened from offsite views. City Code
1107.2202 (4).
Response:
1. All new roof top equipment will be painted.
5. At Grainwood a proposal request will be added to provide a rock face block
wall to screen the chillers in lieu of the chain link fence. The detail would be
similar to the Westwood design.

INSPECTIONS: An plumhing inml1lt1:inns must ~ tested and inspected in accordance with the requirements of
the ~nnesota Plumbing 'Code. As specified in ~ta Rules, part 4715.2830, no pluinbing work may be
cove.fed prior to completing the Rquired tests and ~ons. Provisions must be made: for applying an air test
at tb.~ time of the roupina-in inspection as outlinediin ~innesota Rules, part 4715.2820" subpart 2, of the code.
A m~ometer test, as specified in Minnesota Rules. part!4715.?8?O> suhpart 3. is required at the time of the
finished plumbing inspection. It is the responsibility of the con1raCtOr/ins1aller to notify the State Health
Department when the installation will be ready for ~ rest and inspection. To schedule inspections, contact the

1. The ~uhmittetl JlI;rn~ indicate the installation ofdrywells to dissipate the roof drainage. Please note that
groundwater contamination and,hydraulic failure ale possible cOncerns with this type of installation. If1he
dtywells will be installed, the fOllowing requ.n-emeJits must be met:
a. Approval must be obtained from the local cIdmioistrative authority (see Minnesota Rules. part
4715.2700). . .
b. The drywelIs must be desi&Ded and ~ to prevent degradation oftbe groundwater quality, as
required by Minnesota RuleS, Chapter 7060. A minimum vertical separation of three feet should be
available between the bottoljl of the drywe~ ~ the highest seasonal elevation of the water table.
c. The drywen~ are ~n~iclemd CJas.s V injection wells and must be registeml with the U.S. Environmental
Protection Agency (USEPA). Please complete ~e enclosed. Underground Discharge System Inventory
Form and return copies to the USEPA and the Minnesota POJlutiOll Con1rOl Agency (MPCA).
