Mueller & Sons Contracting for the 2008 street overlays as identified in the 2008 Street Department portion of the General Fund Budget. Streets to be overlayed include the portions of Wilds Parkway, Wilds View, Whitetail Ridge and Pine View Drive. Historv On February 4, 2008, the City Council approved a Resolution accepting plans and authorizing advertisement for bids for the 2008 Overlay Improvements. Staff utilizes a pavement management system for rating the condition of streets throughout the City. Staff then uses this system as a tool when identifying areas for maintenance and repair. To be eligible for an overlay the street must have concrete curb and gutter, storm sewer, and a sound sub base. The following street overlays have been identified by staff for construction in 2008: I Route I Wilds Parkway I Pine View Dr. I Wilds View I Whitetail Ridge Description Wilds Ridge to Wilds Maintenance Gara~ Wilds Parkway to end Wilds Ridge to end Wilds View to end Current Circumstances Advertisements for bids were published in both the Prior Lake American and Construction Bulletin with bids due and opened on March 18, 200~, at 11 :00 am. Wm Mueller & Sons has not previ- ously worked for the City of Prior Lake. They have successfully completed several similar projects in neighboring communities. Considering the price of petroleum and petroleum based products, we believe that the low bid represents a good value to the Prior Lake taxpayer. The City's estimate was $153,000 based on last years project. ISSUES: FINANCIAL IMPACT: Funds for these projects will be drawn from the Street Department portion of the general fund budget, of which $175,000 has been allocated to cover the expenses for this project. 1. Approve a resolution accepting the bids and authorizing the Mayor and City Manager to execute the City's Standardized Construction Contract with Wm Mueller & Sons for the selected street overlays. 2.
