Dear Mr. Berle,
The Planning Department has reviewed your application for Home Occupation Permit.
Based on the information submitted, it appears that you will meet the criteria for granting
a permit. Therefore, this letter serves as your approval to conduct the proposed home
occupation as you have described in the application.
Should you significantly modify your home business or under take in any additional
businesses you must apply for another Home Occupation Permit. If at any time you are
not in compliance with the criteria of Home Occupations, then corrective measures will
be taken by the city to ensure compliance.

RE: Home Occupation Permit Criteria
Lot 13, Block 2, Woodridge Estates 1st addition 25-280-019
Business will consist of making fishing boat splashguards (that fit on the back of the
boat) and answering phone calls with inquiries.
Splashguards are made with polycarbonate plastic and neoprene rubber. Work includes
cutting rubber and riveting to plastic which is already shaped.
A All equipment is stored in lower level on home. Work table and plastic materials will
take up about 200 sq. ft. in a work area in the lower level. There is no equipment or
material stored outside the residence.
B. Since all materials are inside the residence, the operation is not apparent from the
street.
C. Product is manufactured on sight. Only rough materials are brought in to residence.
D. Homeowner is only person participating in occupation. There are no employees.
E. The occupation is wholly carried on within the residence. Space used of the dwelling
is 200 sq. ft. which does not exceed 10% of home. There is no part of home
occupation carried on in any attached or detached accessory building.
F. There are no exterior displays, signs or outside storage of materials.
G. Equipment used in occupation is common to homes and will not create objectionable
noise, vibration, smoke, dust, electrical disturbances, odors, heat, glare or other
nuisance factors discernible at the property line.
H. There will be no increase in automobile traffic created by the occupation.
Please fmd the enclosed floor plan with dimensions of the area I will use in the
occupation.

On March 24, 1998, the Planning Department received an application for a home
occupation permit from you. We received the filing fee and a signed application. The
application is incomplete. In order to continue processing the application we need the
following:
. A written description of how the home occupation will meet the eight criteria
(A-H). We need verification that all of the requirements can/will be adhered
to.
Once we receive the necessary information, processing of your application will proceed..

HOME OCCUPATION PERMIT PROCEDURES
OVERVIEW
When a person wishes to carry on an occupation in or from their home, the Zoning Ordinance requires that a
home occupation permit be issued. A home occupation may be permitted in residential zoning districts if the
requirements of Section 6.8 of the Ordinance are met. The requirements of this section are as follows:
A. All material or equipment shall be stored within an enclosed structure.
B. Operation of the home occupation is not apparent from the street right-of-way.
C. The activity does not involve warehousing, distribution or retail sales of merchandise produced off the
site.
D. The home occupation may be carried on by persons residing in the dwelling unit and not more than one
employee who does not reside in the dwelling unit.
E. The home occupation shall be carried on wholly within the principal structure. Space within the
dwelling devoted to the home occupation does not exceed 10% of the floor area or 300 square feet,
whichever is greater. No portion of the home occupation is permitted within any attached or detached
accessory building.
F. Exterior displays, signs (other than those permitted under the Sign Ordinance), and outside storage of
materials shall not be permitted.
G. Objectionable noise, vibration, smoke, dust, electrical disturbances, odors, heat, glare or other nuisance
factors shall not be discernible at the property line.
R. The home occupation shall not create excessive automobile traffic within the neighborhood.
PRE_APPLICATION PROCEDURES
Before making application for a home occupation permit, persons are advised to meet with a member of the
Planning staff to discuSS whether or not the proposed business is consistent with the above criteria.
If a decision is made to proceed after the advisory meeting or meetings, a formal application is made.

also answer calls and do some computer record keeping. The splashguards then get
shipped out to customers-Via UPS.
