Tree Preservation Plan for Lakefront Park Improvements
The following is an inventory of significant trees as per plans and verified
with site inspection. The inventory and preservation plan was prepared by
Assistant City Engineer Sue McDennott (Registered Civil Engineer), Parks
Supervisor AI Freidges (Project Coordinator) and Planner Jenni Tovar:
Along old entrance road, Sheet L5, near proposed pavilion:
8" 1V1aple (1rrail)
6" Ash (1rrail)
6" Ash (1rrail)
8" Ash (1rrail)
9" Linden (Building Pad)
8" Ash (1rrail)
6" Ash (1rrail)
The following were removed for the driveway and parking areas:
7" Ash
7" Ash
7" Ash
7" Ash
6" Ash
8" Ash
6" Ash
7" Ash
7" Ash
8" Ash
8" Ash
10" Ash
1r01rAL 139 Caliper Inches
All of these trees are being relocated to The Ponds and Wilderness Ponds Parks.
The following are significant trees located at "the top of the hill" on Sheet L6.
6" Crab (Driveway) 6" Crab (Driveway) 6" Pine (Driveway)
1rOTAL 18 Caliper Inches
All of these trees are being relocated to the Ponds.
May 17, 1999
The proposed road along the park on the recently acquired Kopp property will result in the
removal of the following significant trees:
30" Oak
30" Oak
30" Oak
20" Ash
TOTAL 110 Caliper Inches
Total Caliper Inches on Site- 267 Caliper Inches inventoried (although there are woods,
without having to inventory the entire site we are not including them in the calculations, as
they will not be disturbed).
TOTAL Caliper Inches Removed -267CI
25% Max allowed removal for roads=67 CI
Actual removed = 11 0 CI
Required Replacement 21.5 CI
25% Max allowed removal for building pads/ driveways = 67 CI Actual removed= 115 CI
Required Replacement= 24 CI
Zero allowed for other activities
Actual other removed=42 Caliper Inches
Required Replacement= 21 CI
TOTAL REQUIRED REPLACEMENT 67 CI.
Considering there are significant woods on the property that are not being disturbed, the
actual proposed removal falls within the allowable tree removal. Therefore, there is no
required escrow. Considering we did not inventory the woods, the replacement plan based
on trees inventoried is as follows: 67 Caliper inches are to be planted. 139 Existing caliper
inches are being replanted at the Ponds Park and Wilderness Ponds Park. This is in
addition to the 63 caliper inches of Spruce and 70 Caliper inches of Red Pine being planted
on the site. This site conforms with the Tree Preservation Ordinance.
NOTE: No significant trees will be removed for placement of trails within the woods.

Dear Ms. Tovar:
SUBJECT: Lakefront Park Improvements
Site Plan Review S99-046
Northwest Quadrant of Ridgement Avenue SE and TH 13
Prior Lake, Scott County
C.S. 7001
The Minnesota Department of Transportation (Mn/DOT) has reviewed the Lakefront Park
Improvements site plan. We find the site plan acceptable for further development with
consideration of the following comments:
· Existing drainage patterns and rates of runoff must be maintained. Questions regarding
Mn/DOT drainage concerns may be directed to Don Berre of our Water Resources Section at
(612) 797-3090.
· Due to the small size of the plans submitted for the project, Mn/DOT found it difficult to assess
effects on TH 13 from this project. To adequately assess this, we request submittal of full size
plans with information describing: 1) the outlet for and means of disposal of storm water
runoff; 2) the land use designation or zoning category; 3) the locations of ingress and egress;
and 4) a site plan.
We conduct these reviews to ensure that potential issues are identified and considered at an
early phase in the development process. We strongly encourage the city to forward all future
preliminary plats and site plans adjacent to state right of way to us for review.
Please contact me at 582-1403 with any questions regarding this review.
Sincerely,
(~VCtv
