AGENDA ITEM: 2003 LAKE FRONT DAYS (Chamber of Commerce)
PRESENTATION: Lakefront Days is right around the corner! Beginning on July 29th and continuing
through August 3rd, this year's Lakefront Days will be the biggest and best yet with
the continuation of many past events, and the addition of new ones. Attached is
schedule of events, and Sandi Fleck, Executive Director of the Chamber of
Commerce, will provide a presentation on some of the scheduled highlights for
this year's.
This year, there is also a new route for Saturday's parade. Attached is a map of
the new route which is included within the flyer we have mailed to the residents
who may be impacted by parade staging and traffic.
In order to accommodate this growing community celebration, we have again
arranged to have Laker Lines shuttle participants from the several locations in the
Downtown area to Lakefront Park on a continual basis on Thursday night
(5:30pm-9:30pm), Friday night from 6pm - 11 pm, and Saturday from 1 pm - 11 pm.
The Chamber and the City share the costs of providing the shuttle service.

Who is Surf Dude and Why is he here?
Surf Dude is a Prior Lake resident who is very excited about the new website
www.cityoforiorlake.com. Through taking on the role of surf dude, he can
spread the excitement of surfing the new city website.
He will be appearing at one event daily at Lakefront Days. Simply record TVVO
events where surf dude has been spotted and send a form to City Hall/Surf
Dude Contest, 16200 Eagle Creek Ave SE. Forms are available online.
Tuesday Event, July 29
Wine Tasting at the Wilds, 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm
Sponsored by Viking Liquor Barrel, the tasting will be at the beautiful Wilds Golf Club, this special
event will feature wines and beers from allover America.
Wednesday Events, July 30
Scott County Motorcycle Cruise
This is the first Scott County Motorcycle Cruise for Lakefront Days. It will start and finish at
Lakefront Park. Registration begins at 5:00 pm, the bikes will head out at 6:30 pm for a leisurely
and scenic ride through Scott County with our own Police Chief and Mayor leading the bikers.
There is a $5 registration fee for anyone wishing to be part of the cruise. The bikes will be parked
at Lakefront Park to be viewed throughout the evening. In the Food Tent, County Market of
Prior Lake will be doing the food, benefiting Shane Gullickson.
Optimist Club Fundraiser
Pull tabs will be offered in the entertainment tent.
Featuring SteamHeat 7:30-9:30 pm
This local swing band is made up of 18 members with full brass, percussion and 3 vocalists. The
music ranges from "In the Mood" to "Chattanooga Choo Choo" to "It Doesn't Mean a Thing If It
Ain't Got That Swing". Also, come down to the Entertainment Tent to listen to SteamHeat, they
have recently learned a swing version of "Proud Mary". This band brings a good time and great
attitude to every performance.
Thursday Events, July 31
Teddy Bear Picnic, Noon
Bring your bag lunch and teddy bear to the Prior Lake Library and let's have a picnic.
Quilting
Thursday -Saturday
Located at the Pavilion, a display of quilts old and new will be displayed. Also, try your hand at
quilting, there will be demonstrators teaching this craft.
Laker Lines Bus
Again this year, we will be offering the Laker Lines Bus Shuttle. Park at Holy Trinity Methodist
Church, Prior Lake Library, Laker Lines Park & Ride lot and the Municipal parking lot and the bus
will pick you up and drop you off in Lakefront Park at the Pavilion.
Ice Cream Social I Water Ski Show
Sponsored by the City of Prior Lake, the ice cream social is a great place for your picnic at
Lakefront Park. Come to Lakefront Park at 6 pm and forget about cooking, $1 will buy you a pork
sandwich bag lunch. Also there will be free ice cream, too. Entertainment at the band shell is
Windjammers, Teddy Bear Band and Prior Lake Dance Program. Also, a penny carnival for
children, the Prior Lake Fire Department and Prior Lake Police Department will be holding
demonstrations through out the evening. At Watzl's beach the Prior Lake Water Ski Club will be
performing.
Hall of Fame
The second Laker Hall of Fame induction banquet will be held at the Wilds Golf Club beginning
with a social hour at 5:30 pm. Dinner and induction ceremonies will follow. Plan on attending and
get your tickets early as last year's banquet was a tremendous success.

Friday Events, August 1
Golf Tournament
The second annual Laker Hall of Fame golf tournament will be held Friday, August 1st at beautiful
Boulder Pointe Golf Club in Elko. Tournament will be shotgun start at noon and will include a
silent auction with many exciting prizes. Get an entry form at www.priorlakechamber.com and
grab three of your friends. It's certain to be a great time!
Minnesota Bound Traveling Fishing Show 3-5 pm
Sponsored by the City of Prior Lake Recreation Department. The fishing show is an
interactive family event taking place at the Sand Point Beach Lions fishing pier. The
Fishing Show will consist of Knot Tying, Casting, Lure Making, Minnow Races, Fish
Identification and Water Safety. All the fishing show classes will be taught by qualified
fishing instructors/and teachers. Children receive a fishing "goody" bag at the end of the
clinic while supplies last. The event and parking at Sand Point Beach will be free.
La ker Li nes Bus
There will be no parking inside Lakefront Park on Friday, due to the Car Cruise, so hop on the
Laker Lines Bus. Park at Holy Trinity Methodist Church, Prior Lake Library, Laker Lines Park & Ride
lot and the Municipal parking lot and the bus will pick you up and drop you off in Lakefront Park at
the Pavilion.
Classic Car Cruise
This year, the Classic Car Cruise begins with a line-up at Lakefront Park. Registration begins
at 5:00 pm, and then the cars head out around Prior Lake and return to Lakefront Park at 6:45
p.m. There is a $5 registration fee for anyone wishing to be part of the cruise. The cars will be
parked at Lakefront Park to be viewed throughout the evening.
Non-Profit Night Food Tent
Five different non-profit groups will cook up some delightful fare for those attending Lakefront
Days. Proceeds from this food booth will benefit their community programs. 4 pm - midnight.
Optimist Club Fundraiser
Pull tabs will be offered in the entertainment tent.
Bingo Tent
Bingo callers will welcome players, young and not so young for America's favorite pastime.
Sponsored by Creekside Commons Apartments.
Kids Korner
Located in a roped off area by the pavilion, these activities will attract the smallest of the group.
Sponsored by Why USA Twin City Homes. Also located by Kids Korner, MOPS will be
sponsoring an inflatable for these small jumpers.

Skate Park
The skate park will be open so everyone can try for extended hours until dusk. The City of Prior
Lake operates a skate park featuring 3 and 5-foot ramps for skateboarders and in-line skaters.
Participants under 18 must have a parent-signed liability waiver. Protective equipment of a
helmet, elbow pads and knee pads are mandatory for all users. Resident and non-resident daily
fees apply. Season passes available for individuals and families.
Inflatable Games--6-9 pm
You don't have to be a kid to enjoy these two huge inflatables. The obstacle course will have you
coming back for more and the human darts should be a real stick! Sponsored by the Prior Lake
Rotary.
Band Shell Family Stage, 5 pm -Dusk
Battle of the Rock Bands.
Moziak, 5-7 p.m.
Located in the Entertainment Tent this band plays easy rock music
Featuring Solid Gold 8 p.m.- midnight in the Entertainment Tent
Rock your socks off with Solid Gold... hits from the fifties, sixties and seventies
Fireworks
At dusk we will have fireworks at Lakefront Park. Rainout date is Saturday at dusk.
Saturday Events, August 2
Lakefront Pacer Fun Run
Sponsored by the City of Prior Lake and Savage Recreation Departments at Lakefront Park.
The one mile run starts at 8:00 a.m. and the 4 mile will begin at 8:30. Pre-registration is $12,
race day registration is $15. Registration includes a T-shirt. Massages are offered after the run
compliments of Kramer Chiropractic. Call 952-224-3420 for more information.
3 on 3 Basketball 10 am - 2 pm
Sponsored by City of Prior Lake Recreation Department. Three divisions; 12 and under, 13-
15 year olds and 16 and over. Awards will be given out to the winners. Fee is $3 per person and
all registrations will be taken on-site at the Lakefront Park Basketball Court.

Parade
Begins at 12:00 from St. Michaels parking lot and the route will be along Duluth Avenue to 21 to
Main Avenue and through Lakefront Park.
Taste of the Lake 2 pm -midnight
This returning event will feature our local area restaurants under one tent. This event will be
adjoined to the Entertainment Tent. Come taste something new and exciting under the big top!
Kids Korner
Located in a roped off area by the pavilion, these activities will attract the smallest of the group.
Sponsored by Why USA Twin City Homes. Also located by Kids Korner, MOPS will be
sponsoring an inflatable for these small jumpers. Characters will be walking around entertaining
the children, sponsored by CharacterGrams. Hermey the Clown will be located in Kids Korner
from 2:30-5:30 pm.
Inflatable Games--2:30-5:30 pm
They are back again on Saturday, two activities that will attract young and the young at heart. The
obstacle course will have you running, jumping and sliding and the sports challenge will have you
competing. Sponsored by the Prior Lake Rotary.
Skate Park
The skate park will be open so everyone can try for extended hours until dusk. The City of Prior

Night Hawk 4:30-7 p.m.
Sponsored by Soo Line Credit Union; Night Hawk plays a variety of music to keep the crown
entertained. Night Hawk will be performing in the Entertainment Tent.
Featuring Switch 8 p.m. - midnight
This band will rock all night long. Switch plays favorites of today and yesterday. They are the
featured band for Saturday evening located in the Entertainment Tent.
Sunday Event, August 3
Fishing Tournament is sponsored by Prior Lake Association and Captain Jacks on Prior
Lake. Registration starts at 10:30 am, with the fishing tournament from 11 to 2. Weigh-in is at
Captain Jacks.
