Jacks Liquor Lic Ext MEETING DATE: AGENDA #: PREPARED BY: AGENDA ITEM: DISCUSSION: AL TERNA TIVES: RECOMMENDED MOTION: REVIEWED BY: CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT August 4, 2003 SF JANET RINGBERG, LICENSE CLERK CONSIDER APPROVAL OF A TEMPORARY ON-SALE INTOXICATING LIQUOR LICENSE EXTENSION FOR CAPTAIN JACK'S Current Circumstances The owners of Captain Jack's are applying for an extension of their on- sale intoxicating liquor license. State law requires liquor license holders to apply for an extension of their license if they wish to sell alcohol beyond the premises for which they are licensed. This extension will allow them to sell alcohol at an outdoor event they are planning for Saturday, August 9, 2003. The event will be held in a tented area in the parking lot of Captain Jack's. They are planning on having live music from 12:00 noon until 1 0:00 p.m. The Issues Captain Jack's has paid the $25.00 fee for this permit. The Prior Lake Police Department has found no reason to deny this permit. The outdoor event permit has been approved and the Police Department is working with the applicants to ensure they are compliant on all state laws and city ordinances for this event. The City Council has the following alternatives: 1. Adopt a motion as part of the consent agenda approving a liquor license extension for Captain Jack's. 2. Deny the liquor license extension request. Staff recommends Council approve the liquor license extension for Captain Jack's for Saturday, August 9, 2003. 1628ovt~Nl&~~~~~,If~~?PTRol}\t~:'tGi~I~~ ~~~t9q~D?~~f9~~41fi4230 / Fax (952) 447-4245 AN EQUAL OPPORTUNITY EMPLOYER
