INSTRUCTIONS:
Total project is 514 squares. Ballast removal by Kelly Pierce.
- Area D-l (32 squares): Metal deck, %" perlite, 4-10" eps, fully adhered epdm. Skin
- Area D-2 (86 squares): Concrete deck, 2-ply v.r., 3" iso, fully adhered epdm. Skin
- Area E (89 squares): 2-ply v.r., 3" iso, fully adhered epdm. Skin
- Area F & P.H. (221 squares): Metal deck, %" perlite, 4-10" eps, epdm, ballast. Skin
- Area G (21 squares): Concrete deck, 2-ply V.L, I" perlite, 4" eps, epdm ballast. Tear off to v.r.
- Area H, I, J, & J-2 (65 squares): Metal deck, bur, 4" eps, epdm, ballast. Tear off to metal deck
Brian Thompson will be the Garland inspector (612-710-0787).
Any mechanical unit modifications provided by JAD.
DEMOLITION:
1. Remove the existing ballast (Area F) and epdm down to the existing roof insulation at roof areas
D-l, D-2, E, F and penthouse (replace wet or deteriorated roof insulation/keep track of daily
amounts). Note: Area D-2 should have wood fiber below epdm. Will need to verify.
2. Remove the existing ballast (Area G), roof insulation and bur down to the existing V.L
3. Remove the sheet metal flashing at the roof edges, control joints, area dividers, walls, sleepers
and roof curbs (remove metal square to rounds at area G and cover with epdm).
4. The top piece of metal insert at wall areas of roof areas D-l & D-2 are to remain in place (remove
bottom piece only).
5. Remove the base flashing at the roof edges, control joints, area dividers, walls, sleepers and roof
curbs.
6. Haul away debris (6-40 yard and 6-30 yard dumpsters).
CARPENTRY
1. Add wood blocking to roof edges, area dividers, control joints, roof curbs and sleeper curbs to
maintain 8" height above the roof insulation.
2. Install wood blocking at overflow scuppers to accommodate new insulation height.
3. Build new pipe box curb at area D-l.
4. Build new curb for air conditioner at area J.
5. Install new wood blocking at front entry of area J to accommodate new stone (by others).

1. Mechanically fasten tapered isocyanurate roof insulation to metal deck at areas H, J, J-2, & I.
2. Mop tapered isocyanurate roof insulation over vapor retarder at area G.
3. Mechanically fasten ~"wood fiber roof insulation at area F and penthouse.
4. Install tapered crickets and saddles as shown on insulation layout (areas E, F, D-l and D-2).
5. Mop Y2"' wood fiber roof insulation set in hot asphalt at all roof areas.
6. Install tapered edge at cant roof edge.
7. Install tapered edge at roof drains (12' x 121-
8. Install insulation cant strip at roof edges, control joints, area dividers, walls and roof curbs.

BUILT-UP ROOFING: GARLAND
1. Install three layers of type HPR type IV fiberglass felts and one ply of Stress Ply E field
membrane set in solid mopping of hot asphalt. Gravel in with hot asphalt.
2. Make roofing connection to roof drains and fumish with new lead flanges.
3. Make roofing connections to 21 soil stacks, 1 pitch pan and 2 heat stacks.
4. Install base flashings with one ply ofVersiply 40 backer and one ply of Stress Ply E Mineral.
5. Cover base flashing at roof edges, control joints, area dividers and sleeper curbs with ice and
water shield.
SHEET METAL:
Note: All sheet metal face at roof edges must be double row if wider than 8". All metal
counterflashing must extend to gravel.
1. Fabricate and install 24-gauge prefinished metal as per details on roof plan.
2. Fabricate and install two new 20-gauge square to rounds with collars at area G.
3. Reuse the existing sheet metal insert at roof areas D-1 and D-2.
4. Color of the metal is to be selected by the owner.
