Prior Lake, MN 55372 Dear Steve I apologize for the period of time that has passed without attention to the matter of the permit and description of work for the landscape project in my back yard. Since we last spoke I have been either out of town or trying to catch up at work :fi.'vm business trips. During this time no work has taken place. I received a summons for a court date of September 23rd regarding this matter. If necessary we can go ahead with that but I believe it .would be in my best interests to try to avoid a court matter. I have filled out the grading application with a brief description and a rough landscape plan describing my intentions. Initially the two problems I wanted to solve on my lakeshore area were a narrow mucky bay that made an in water bo~t lift unmanageable and a steep (approximately 2:1) slope that was unmowable and unmanageable. I also desired a method of walking a lawn mower down to the grassy area near the lake to mow. In the past we would mow the area as little as possible as we had to use a two-person team and ropes to get the mower back up the hill. I started with cutting aFFJ.vximately 6 yards of clay out of the hillside to build a retaining wall to place a rail system for the boat. To access the area I cut a manageable slope into the hill to make the future access path. This moved about 4-6 yards of clay from the uphill side to the downhill side. Upon completing the wall the DNR r~FJ.~sentative asked me to get a buffer area of grass between the work area and the shoreline to protect the lake from sediment. That area was completed as quickly as possible. To complete the project I would like to install a series of 2-4' stone retaining walls to create level terraces with only grass covered access slopes of manageable grades (approximately 4:1) so that storm runoff can be better managed and utilizing mulch or stone covered planting beds to create an attractive natural setting. Along with these I would like to create a small mid level sitting area for watching the kids swimming activities and a lower patio with a water garden. This process would probably require the movement of an additional 4-6 yards of clay. The end result of this project would provide a more attractive setting while better managing water runoff on a very tricky lot. I would very much apFJ.~ciate your considering this application and would welcome any questions you may have about this situation at 612-282-1329. . ~ ~\ *'Z-' 33 5D ~j~V'<- 1;4,1 PODV' LA ~) V"lV\ S-S 3 7~ rt)~ V'\ No - : t . - 4 ,0/ -= I /V " V' e). ~ ll:;lD , .::J Cre-<o t: 0 (:: h, Jl '--~ -)~ ~t-Cv~ ^:J v&\, II s o.l\ <4-' .....,,- '- fNl' J. ."'".... , -==---- C: . -----:----..0.- 7 rG;.. To schedule an inspection on the silt fence contact Nate Briese in the Engineering Department. Also the applicant must sign the grading application.
