Introduction The purpose of this agenda item is to request Council consideration of the appointment of Jeff Phelan to the Technology/Communications Advisory Committee. Historv Bylaws for the Technology/Communications Advisory Committee were approved in November 2008 which established that, "the Committee shall consist of one City Council liaison, and at least three (3) and no more than five (5) citizens who live in Prior Lake." Bylaws further define that a vacant seat allows the City Council to appoint a member after a notice of the vacancy is made public. Current Circumstances The vacancy on the Technology/Communications Advisory Committee was made public on the Website, in the Newswire, on PL TV 15 and in the Prior Lake American. An application was submitted by Jeff Phelan indicating his interest to serve on the Technology/Communications Advisory Committee (attached). Councilor Erickson, Communications Coordinator Peterson and I conducted an interview with Mr. Phelan on Tuesday, April 28, 2009. We recommend his appointment to the Committee. The appointment of Mr. Phelan to the Technology/Communications Advisory Committee will bring it to its full complement. Technology/Communications Advisory Committee members receive no stipend or per diem. 1. Adopt the resolution appointing Jeff Phelan to the Technology / Communications Advisory Committee. 2. I have experience with systems installation as well as tech support and systems maintenance for Unix based systems with both hardwired and wireless hardware peripherals. Currently, I am the Director of Sales for a company in the building products sector. My degree is in Forestry and I have worked throughout the supply chain from Forest Management to lumber processing to building products (kitchen cabinets). '. !I My strongest passion, however, is with the outdoors. I have in the past and still volunteer with a couple of organizations that work to improve fisheries habitat and educate families on responsibly enjoying the outdoors.
