CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT
JULY 20, 2009
5K
JANET RING BERG, LICENSE CLERK
CONSIDER APPROVAL OF TEMPORARY ON-SALE INTOXICATING
LIQUOR LICENSE FOR PRIOR LAKE CHAMBER OF COMMERCE FOR
LAKEFRONT DAYS
The Prior Lake Chamber of Commerce is requesting a temporary on-sale
intoxicating liquor license in order to sell beer and to hold a wine tasting event
during Lakefront Days. This is the fifth year the Chamber of Commerce will
host a wine tasting. This year it will be held on Thursday, July 30, 2009. The
state requires a temporary on-sale intoxicating license rather than a 3.2 liquor
license for a wine tasting. This also allows the sale of 3.2 and strong beer.
This license will be valid Thursday, July 30; Friday, July 31; and Saturday,
August 1, 2009.
Dram shop insurance will be carried through United States Liability Insurance
Group. The Prior Lake Police Department has reported no problems with past
liquor licenses for this event. The Chamber of Commerce will pay to have a
security officer present at the tent on all days of the event.
The City Council has the following alternatives:
1. Adopt a motion as part of the consent agenda approving the
temporary on-sale intoxicating liquor license for the Prior Lake
Chamber of Commerce.
2. Deny the temporary on-sale intoxicating liquor license request.
Alternative #1 - adopt a motion as part of the consent agenda to approve the
temporary on-sale intoxicating liquor license for the Prior Lake Chamber of
Commerce for July 30, 31, and August 1, 2009.
