7B
DANETTE M. PARR, COMMUNTIY DEVELOPMENT AND NATURAL
RESOURCES DIRECTOR
AGENDA ITEM:
A PRESENTATION REGARDING THE ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT
ADVISORY COMMITTEE (EDAC)
The purpose of this agenda item is to provide the EDAC with an opportunity
to share their objectives with the City Council and gather input from the
Council as to the scope of their future efforts.
The EDAC has been a valuable sounding board for the City on economic
development issues. However, it has largely been underutilized. For that
reason, in February of 2009 the EDAC was reestablished as a proactive
advisory body that would actively work to assist the City in achieving the
goals of the 2030 Vision and Strategic Plan related to the Vision Elements of
Economic Development and Downtown Redevelopment.
Deno Howard, Vice Chair of the EDAC will share with the Council how the
EDAC plans to work proactively, along with City Staff, to provide assistance
through implementation of the following objectives:
. Serve as a liaison between City government and the community;
. In conjunction with the City Council, Economic Development
Authority and staff, facilitate economic growth and
redevelopment activities for the City of Prior Lake;
. Work with citizens, City staff, business owners, property owners,
prospective developers, the Chamber of Commerce, and other
economic development stakeholders on a variety of economic
development and redevelopment activities;
. As requested, provide review and comment on economic
development and redevelopment policies to the City Council
and Economic Development Authority;
. Make recommendations to the City Council and Economic
Development Authority regarding economic development
issues, strategy development and implementation and other
initiatives that can be undertaken by the City to expand and
