PART I GENERAL 1.01 Work Included A. Furnish and install new NSF approved kitchen preparation and storage equipment (stainless steel shelving and countertops) as specified to replace existing components. Haul away old. B. Furnish and install new smooth, non-absorbent, easily cleanable, durable floor and wall surfaces (quarry tile and fiberglass reinforced panels) to replace existing surfaces. C. Paint ceiling and non- RFP surfaces. D. Replace Pre-Rinse and Dishwashing Faucets (2) including required plumbing connections. E. Install new InSinkErator (Disposer) including required electrical connections. 1.02Warranties A. Labor and materials 1. The responsible contractor shall assume full responsibility and warrant for one year the satisfactory performance of all labor and materials (notwithstanding additional manufacturer warranties). 2. Any deficiencies not meeting the specifications shall be corrected by the responsible contractor at his expense during the warranty period. PART 2 PRODUCTS 2.0 I Materials A. Comer Trim: Rigid PVC "U" shaped comer trim. 7. Flooring Product Colors: CDA selected from manufacturer's stock colors. PART 3 EXECUTION 3.01 Storage of Goods A. Contractor shall be responsible for materials at all times. Contractor shall make ammgements to be on-site for all deliveries and be responsible for the unloading, handling, and storage of all goods. 3.02 Inspection A. Job Conditions I. Contractor responsible for verifying sizing of all materials to properly fit existing floor plan and to provide cabinet schedule and drawings as well as coordinate all ordering, delivery, and installation in accordance with manufacturer's installation instructions. 3.03 Demolition A. Remove and haul away existing cabinetry, cOllntertops, faucets, RFP's, and finished flooring as shown on Floor Plan (Appendix A) and referenced in Section 2.01. B. All appliances, hand sink and faucet, SS 3-compartment sink and adjacent shelves and drying racks, SS Island Counter/Sink/Faucet, and retractable shade at serving counter TO REMAIN. C. All debris shall be removed from the site in a timely manner and shall not be left around the property or pose any hazard to residents. All scrap from demolition and installation shall be picked up daily and placed in a contractor supplied dumpster or other container and disposed of properly. Page 2 of 4 3.04InstaUation A. Use only skilled tradesmen with work done in accordance with specifications and manufacturer's installation instructions. Contractor responsible for coordinating all applicable trades (i.e. plumbing and electrical) to complete the work. NOTE: The entire residence will be vacated for a month during the cOllrse of construction and the kitchen will be inoperable to allow for the uninterrupted completion of this remodel. B. Work Table, Counter, Shelves, and Over-Shelves (See Appendix A) I. Install all equipment, components, and accessories in accordance with manufacturer's instructions and as indicated on the drawings. 2. Contractor responsible for all necessary wall repair to match existing surfaces. Remove and re-assemble retr8ctible shade as necessary to fit new counter at serving pass-through. 3. Use anchoring devices to suit conditions and substrate materials encountered. 4. Set casework items plumb and square, securely anchored to building structure. 5. Relocate existing towel dispenser to hand sink area. C. Wall RFP Replacement; Wall/Ceiljing Paint l. Replace all existing Fiberglass Reinforced Panels (RFP's) with new RFP panels. 2. Repair all remaining wall and ceiling defects to a smooth surface ready for paint. 3. Prime (one coat) and finish paint (two coats) all exposed wall and ceiling surfaces not covered by RFP panels, storage equipment, and/or appliances. Contractor to remove and reinstall cover plates; mask and protect remaining surfaces and equipment 4. Surface Preparation: a. Clean all surfaces with a moderate strength, water-soluble, industrial cleaner (similar to Trisodim Phoshate) in manufacturer-recommended strength for hand application with a sponge, followed by a drying period of a minimum of four hours. b. Remove all oil, dust, grease, and other foreign material to ensure adequate adhesion. Surface must be clean, dry, and in sound condition. c. Fill minor scratch indentations, holes, cuts or scars. d. Sand surfaces to remove any sheen and assure a smooth, dull finish. 5. Brush or roll only. May require multiple coats to achieve maximum film thickness and uniformity of appearance. C. Plumbing 1. Install new faucets and disposer to include all new supply tubing to faucets, new ~ turn shut off valves, and new drain/waste piping (trap and waste fittings). D. Electrical 1. Coordinate work with kitchen remodel. Include all repair/rewire to affected circui ts and connections for new disposer. Page 3 of 4 E. Floor NOTE: Contractors responsible fOl" the removal and reinstallation of all appliances and equipment as necessary to install new flooring. 1. Remove and haul away existing floor tile. 2. Install quarry tile, base, and thresholds in accordance with ANSI A 108.5, following the methods and guidelines published in TeA (Tile Council of America) Handboodk for Tile Installation. 3. Proportion all mixes in strict accordance with the latest ANSI standard specifications. Strictly follow all manufacturer's directions and recommendations. 4. Prepare subfloor as necessary to accommodate quarry tile. 5. Cut and fit tile tight to protrusions and perpendicular interruptions. Fonn comers and bases neatly. 6. Fonn internal angles square and external angles bullnose. 7. Sound tile aftert setting. Replace hollow sounding units. 8. Allow tile to set for a minimum of 48 hours prior to grouting. 9. Be sure all finished tilework is free of grout film, especially before the use of sealers. 10. Protect all tilework from construction dirt, grease, and stains. Prohibit all floor and wheel traffic on newly tiled floor, minimum of 48 hours, or until tile is firmly set. 11. Apply sealer to tile and grout following manufacturer's instructions. 3.05 Protection and Cleaning A. After completion of work, all new and existing components shall be inspected, adjusted, put into working order and left clean, free of labels, dirt, etc. Protect installed product's finish surfaces from damage during construction.
