DISCUSSION: Introduction The Chairperson for the Community Safety Advisory Committee, Woody Spitzmueller, will advise the Council of the Committee's proposed 2010 objectives. Violence Domestic Violence March 2010 • Prepare editorial for PL American during Maddox trial now schedule in March to raise awareness. • Dating Violence /Teen Violence (Janine to check if there is a school program the committee could support) TBD • Recommend city proclamation in October for Domestic Violence Awareness month. October 2010 • Co-sponsor a walk for domestic violence with Southern Valley Alliance. October 2010 • Recommend City sponsored class for assault prevention. TBD 2. Protecting Our Offer "Protect Our Children" program via web stream or Children other media on City web site • Recommend that focal youth groups using city facility do background checks. • Explore ordinance related to requiring background checks for youth organizations. • Promote water safet - ISD class 3.
