PRESENTATION OF CENTERPOINT ENERGY 2010 COMMUNITY
PARTNERSHIP GRANT
PRESENTATION:
CenterPoint Energy in Minnesota has awarded grants to cities served by
the company through its Community Partnership Grant program. In 2010,
the program will award grants for up to $2,500 as matching funds for the
purchase of safety equipment.
The City of Prior Lake has been awarded a $2,500 grant. The money will
be used to help purchase a mobile data unit (computer) for the Fire
Department first responder vehicle. This unit will allow the Fire Department
to access complex, secure information in real time. This mission critical
information exchange will provide the firefighters with pre-emptive
intelligence that will ultimately save lives and protect property. Specifically,
the equipment will enable the first responders to tie directly to Scott County
Dispatch and improve communications; access GIS mapping for parcel
information and planning; access to property data for hazardous material
information; and access to hazardous material manuals and other
reference materials.
A representative from CenterPoint Energy will attend the meeting to
present the check to the Mayor and the Fire Chief. It is not necessary for
the City Council to take action to receive this grant.
