ELECTIONS
Introduction
The purpose of this agenda item is to consider approval of election judge
appointments for the primary election on Tuesday, August 10, 2010, and

Historv
In the past, primary elections have always been held the second Tuesday

time between the primary and general elections, thereby moving up the
primary election date by one month to the second Tuesday of August. The
statute was also changed to allow for 45 days of absentee voting before all
elections instead of 30 days for absentee voting.
Current Circumstances
The primary and general elections scheduled for this fall are for the
purpose of electing candidates for the following offices:
Federal
United States Representative
State
Governor
Secretary of State
Attorney General
State Senator
State Representative
Judicial
District Court Judges
Citv
Two Council Members
As part of the election process, the City Council must authorize the
appointment of election judges to conduct election day activities.
