HomeMy WebLinkAbout96-20 RESOLUTION 96-20 RESOLUTION ADOPTING A FLEXIBLE BENEFITS PLAN UNDER SECTION 125 OF THE INTERNAL REVENUE CODE MOTION BY: M~tder SECOND BY: Kedrowski WHEREAS, Section 125 of the Internal Revenue Code allows the City to establish a Flexible Benefits Plan; and WHEREAS, The City does not presently have such a plan; and WHEREAS, Such a plan allows City employees to pay certain eligible expenses such as health, dental, disability premiums, day care expenses, co-pays for prescriptions and the like through pre-tax rather than post-tax dollars saving the employee and City certain costs. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF PRIOR LAKE, that the City hereby adopts the Flexible Benefits Plan (consisting of the Flexible Benefits Plan document, the Adoption Agreement, and component benefit plans and policies for the City of Prior Lake) effective March 1, 1996. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Manager of the City of Prior Lake is hereby authorized to execute the Adoption Agreement and any related documents or amendments which may be necessary or appropriate to adopt the plan or maintain its compliance with applicable federal, state and local law.
