HomeMy WebLinkAboutPresent: Police Officer Swearin CITY COUNCil AGENDA REPORT March 19, 2001 ~ 6A \ Frank Boyles, City Manager ~ AGENDA ITEM: SWEARING IN CEREMONY FOR POLICE OFFICERS. PRESENTATION: Bill and I would like to initiate a new tradition. Beginning with Police Officer Katherine Quinn and Leah Patterson, we would like to conduct a brief swearing in ceremony as part of the regular City Council meeting. Both officers were hired on March 1, 2001 and are now receiving training. The ceremony would consist of the following: 1. Police Chief O'Rourke will introduce and provide some background information about each of the new police officers. 2. Mayor Mader will administer the attached oath to each officer and award each officer with their badge. 3. The Mayor will call a recess so the officers can arrange to have their badges pinned on their uniform by the person of their choice for pictures. The swearing in ceremony is a great opportunity for Councilmembers and the general public to get to know our newest police officers. In May, I will arrange another ceremony for two more officers who are now in the final phases of the hiring process. 16200 Eagle Creek Ave. S.E., Prior Lake, Minnesota 55372-1714 / Ph.
