DISCUSSION: Introduction The purpose of this agenda item is to appoint two Councilors to the Economic Development Authority (EDA). History The City Council has amended the EDA enabling resolution and approved new bylaws for the EDA. At its last meeting the City Council approved an appointment process and time line (attached). Under the terms of these guidelines, the two Council members are to be appointed at the November 15 meeting. Current Circumstances Mayor Myser asked fellow Councilors to express their interest in serving on the EDA to him no later than November 10. I believe that at least two Councilors have expressed an interest in becoming EDA members. Conclusion If the Mayor and Council believe they are prepared to proceed at the November 15, 2010 meeting it would be appropriate for the Mayor to recommend each Councilor to serve on the EDA and the Council to ratify the Mayor's recommendations by roll call vote. ISSUES: In order for the selection process for the new EDA to procE~ed on schedule, the City Councilors serving on the body should be selectecl so they can serve on the "screening committee" for appointment of the three "citizen" members. FINANCIAL The 2011 budget includes expenses associated with the reconstituted IMPACT: EDA. ALTERNATIVES: 1. Fill in the attached resolution as appropriate and adopt it. 2.
