PRESENATION BY P.L.A.Y. OF CONTRIBUTION FOR BALL FIELD
IMPROVEMENTS.
AGENDA ITEM:
PRESENTATION:
The 2020 Vision and Strategic Plan underscores the importance of our park
system including ball fields. That document also emphasizes the need for
partnerships between the City, its community organizations, and its residents.
This presentation demonstrates what can be achieved for our parks through
partnership.
The Prior Lake Athletics for Youth (PLAY) proposed last year to provide funding
to irrigate and light fields 1, 2 and 7 at the Ponds Park. Specifically , PLAY
committed to provide $75,000 toward this effort. PLAY paid directly for the
irrigation system in the amount of $16,000. PLAY has already provided $20,000
toward the lighting. This evening they will present the remaining $34,000 to the
City Council.
As a result of this partnership, the two softball! baseball fields and a baseball field
are now available to serve 13, 14 and 15 year old baseball teams which is the
fastest growing age group in PLAY baseball.
Mark Schroeder from PLAY will make the presentation to the City Council.
