Minnesota Statutes require publication of the entire Subdivision Ordinance in the official newspaper; however, the statute also allows the City Council to adopt a resolution authorizing the publication of a summary of this ordinance. To comply with the statutory requirements, the Council must do two things: (1) Approve the summary. This reflects a Council determination that the summary is an accurate representation of the contents of the ordinance. (2) Once the Council approves the summary, it then must authorize publication of the summary in the official newspaper. Issues: The cost of publishing the entire ordinance in the newspaper can be prohibitive. To avoid a major expense to the taxpayers, the City staff has prepared the attached summary of the Subdivision Ordinance for publication. A copy of the complete ordinance will be available for review or purchase at City Hall. Conclusion: The proposed resolution includes a summary of the Subdivision Ordinance outlining the major provisions and highlighting the changes in the ordinance. The staff recommends adoption of the attached resolution. I:\ncwsubd\cc summary.doc 1 16200 Eagle Creek Ave. S.E., Prior Lake, Minnesota 55372-1714 / Ph.
