Dear Mayor and City Council Members
My name is Dawn Buhain, a co -chair of the Beyond the Yellow Ribbon -South of the River organization.
Vie are a non - profit group made up of both active and retired service members, as well as civilians. Our
objective is to establish and sustain a local Yellow Ribbon network that proactively works together in
order to meet the needs of Service members and military families.
In continuing Minnesota's proud history of supporting our nation's military, the Yellow Ribbon Network
is a diverse group of citizens and community leaders uniting key areas within local communities to
leverage existing support activities, build awareness, and take action to recognize and support Service
Members and military families.
Beyond the Yellow Ribbon South of the River (BTRYSOTR) Committee is seeking the endorsement of the
City of Prior Lake. We are looking for recognition of our organization as a comprehensive program to
Honor, Service and Support military personnel that will be accomplished through this commitment and
other local resources.
BTYRSOTR is looking for endorsement from the City of Prior Lake to train and support community
leaders to support service members and their families.
We would like to see city leadership support and be represented at Beyond the Yellow Ribbon events.
Facilitate the development of a community crisis and wellness process with minimum representation
from Public Safety and Behavioral Health. Lastly, the opportunity to give city leadership updates on the
Beyond the Yellow Ribbon's progress and have the ability to have input into annual goals and objectives
based on community needs.
"Beyond the Yellow Ribbon is a comprehensive program that
connects service members and their families with community
support, training, services and resources
through HONOR, SERVICE and SUPPORT ".
I look forward to meeting the Council. Feel free to contact me for any questions or concerns.
Sincerely,
Dawn Buhain
