The definition of Impervious Surface from the City Zoning Ordinance is as follows: �..
/mpervious Surface. The portion of the-�uildable parcei which has a covering which does
not permit water to percolate into the�natural soit. Impervious surface shall include, but not �
� be limited to, all driveways arld parking area�� whether paved or not, sidewalks greater than
3 feet in width, patios, tennis and basketball �courts,, swimming paols, covered decks and
other structures. De� ope�i to the sky and having open joints of at least 1/4 in�, �areas
beneath overhangs less than 2 feet in width, and sidewalks 3 feet in width or less shall be � . �
exempted �rom the calculation of impervtous surtace. The impervious surface vf a lot shall
be documented by a aertifificate of survey unless exempted from fiis �equirement by the

. Shoreland Dis#rict (SD). The impervious surFace requirement oni�C applies to property
tocated in the Shoreland Qistriet. The Shoreland District includes all property located
� within 1�000 feet of a significant body of water ��ch as Prior� Lake� �pring Lake, Mystic
Lake� Markley Lake. etc. and the tributaries leading to them. if you are unsure of the
