MN 55372 CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT MEETING DATE: April 4, 2011 ^' AGENDA #: 7A `x PREPARED BY: Frank Boyles, City Manage PRESENTED BY: Various AGENDA ITEM: Presentation to Steve Albrecht DISCUSSION: Introduction Steve Albrecht began his employment at the City of Prior Lake almost seven years ago on April 22, 2004. He was recommended as City Engineer by then Prior Lake Public Works Director Bud Osmundson. When Bud was appointed Public Works Director at the City of Burnsville, Steve assumed the same position at the City of Prior Lake (6/23/05). In his seven years at Prior Lake, Steve has accomplished a great deal, including: • Refurbishing the City's many lift stations. • Numerous street improvement programs. • Many innovations in snow and ice control, street sweeping and surface wa- ter protection. • The water treatment facility. Much, much more could be added to this list from a bricks and mortar perspective. Perhaps where Steve has had his greatest impact is in relationships. The relation- ships between the four operating divisions in Public Works is excellent. The rela- tionships between Public Works and all other City departments is likewise positive. The relationships with the County, SMSC and other cities from a Public Works perspective has never been better. Steve has incorporated his private sector consultant experience into his city work, and in the process greatly improved our capital improvement program elements and became a leader in Prior Lake at developing metrics for various work activities (an effort that continues to be underway). Steve brings a great attitude to the job daily. He is an optimist with a great feel for new ideas and solving problems in a collaborative manner. With Steve's input, our solutions have always been better. We will miss Steve as he now assumes the position of Public Works Director at Burnsville. I know that each member of staff and each council member may have a favorite Steve story. But suffice it to say that Prior Lake is a much better place because of Steve's efforts. We wish him all the best at Burnsville. Mayor Myser has a presentation for Steve, council members are invited to make comments if they would like, and then perhaps we can take a moment for pictures.
