HomeMy WebLinkAbout99-37 RESOLUTION 99-37 RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE AWARD OF BIDS AND EXECUTION OF CITY'S STANDARD CONTRACT FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE LAKEFRONT PARK PAVILION, REJECTING THE BENO'S PAINTING BID, AND AUTHORIZING THE IN-HOUSE EXPENDITURES FOR THE PROJECT WHEREAS, WHEREAS, WHEREAS, WHEREAS, WHEREAS, WHEREAS, WHEREAS, WHEREAS, WHEREAS, MOTION BY: Schenck SECOND BY: Petersen On February 25, 1997 the citizens of Prior Lake passed a referendum which included the development of Lakefront Park, and The park development included the construction of a Multi-Purpose building, also know as a Pavilion, and this Pavilion is in accordance to the Lakefront Park Master Plan which was approved by the City Council on April 11, 1996, and the plans and specifications for the Pavilion have been approved by the City Council; and, bids have been solicited and received for the Pavilion, and, it appears that the following companies are the lowest responsible bidders: Art Johnson Excavating, Jim Clausen Construction, Greystone, Cannon Construction, Mahowald Builders, Friedges Drywall, Bartley Sales, Grendahl Mechanical, and Hayes Electric, for a total of $393,325.00, and, Beno's Painting was a sole bidder at $32,160.00 which is $24,560.00 higher than the Architects estimates for painting, and, it is recommended that Beno's Painting bid be rejected, and, the City will be responsible for certain portions of the construction including waterproof and installation, shingles and related materials, roof related sheet metal, rolling counter shutter, tile work and painting which is an estimated $31,315.00, and, NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF PRIOR LAKE, hereby awards bids to the following companies in the following amounts not to exceed at total of $393,325.00: Art Johnson Excavating Jim Clausen Construction Earthwork Concrete $ 6,763.00 $ 20,922.00 MYmmlI~ek Ave. S.E., Prior Lake, Minnesota 55372-1714 / Ph. (612) 447-4230 / Fax (612) 447-4245 AN EQUAL OPPORTUNITY EMPLOYER Greystone Cannon Construction Mahowald Builders Friedges Drywall Bartley Sales Masonry Carpentry Casework Gypsum Drywall Toilet compartments Toilet accessories Fire protection Mechanical Electrical $ 15,283.00 $238,950.00 $ 4,807.00 $ 10,695.00 $ 3,855.00 Grendahl Mechanical Hayes Electric $ 54,350.00 $ 37,700.00 TOTAL $393,325.00, and, FURTHER, that staff is authorized to expend $31,315.00 for the in-house portion of the project, and, FURTHER, the total expenditures for the Pavilion are not to exceed $424,640.00, to be drawn from the Parks and Library Referendum funds, and, FURTHER, the City Manager is hereby authorized to return bid securities submitted with the proposals to the vendors, following the execution of contracts; and, FURTHER, the Mayor and the City Manager are authorized to execute the City's standard contract on behalf of the City for each of the Pavilion contracts, and FURTHER, the building inspection and plan review fees for this project are waived.
