CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT
SEPTEMBER 4, 2001

CONSIDER APPROVAL OF A RESOLUTIOr!APPROVING A
STREET NAME CHANGE FOR WILD HORSE PASS IN THE
PLAT OF THE WILDS SOUTH
History: On September 18, 2000, the City Council adopted Resolution
00-87 approving the final plat for The Wilds 5th Addition. This final
plat included a cul-de-sac, named Wild Horse Circle, which extends
nearly to the west property line. At the end of the cul-de-sac is an
outlot, which is intended for the extension of this street.
On June 18, 2001, the City Council adopted Resolution 01-76
approving the final plat for The Wilds South. The approved final plat
included a street named Wild Horse Pass. This street is located on the
east side of the plat, and extends to the east property line.
Current Circumstances: Wild Horse Circle and Wild Horse Pass are
aligned so that one day, when the intervening property is developed,
the two streets will be connected. At this time, houses have been
constructed along Wild Horse Circle. No construction has begun, nor
have any building permits been issued on Wild Horse Pass.
Issues: Once the intervening property is developed, a street will
extend from Wilds Parkway to Wood Duck Trail. Since the street will
be continuous, it should have a single name. Unfortunately, staff did
not notice the difference in the names until issuing addresses for The
Wilds South subdivision. In order to correct this problem prior to the
issuance of any building permits, we are requesting the City Council
adopt a resolution changing the name of Wild Horse Pass to Wild
Horse Circle. This change does not affect any existing dwellings.
Conclusion: The change in the street name will result in one,
continuous name for the final developed street, and avoid any future
confusion. The staff therefore recommends approval of this change.

Approval of this street name change will have no fiscal impact.
The City Council has three alternatives:
1. Adopt the resolution changing the name of Wild Horse Pass to
Wild Horse Circle.
2. Deny the resolution changing the street name.
3. Defer action on this item and provide staff with specific direction.
Staff recommends Alternative 1. This requires the following motion:
A motion and second approving a resolution changing the name of
Wild Horse Pass to Wild Horse Circle.
