CONSIDER APPROVAL OF TEMPORARY 3.2 LIQUOR
LICENSE FOR THE CHURCH OF ST. MICHAEL
Current Circumstances
The Church ofSt. Michael is requesting a temporary 3.2 liquor license
in order to sell 3.2 beer at their annual Gala Dinner. The Gala Dinner
is an annual fund raiser for the church and will be held on Saturday,
February 9,2002 in the church's Archangel's Room.
The Church of St. Michael has requested and been granted a temporary
gambling permit for this event. They are also requesting a temporary
consumption and display permit which will allow patrons to bring in
intoxicating liquor. They would like to sell 3.2 beer at this event.
The Issues
St. Michael's has completed the application, paid the temporary 3.2
liquor license of $25 .00 and provided the City with proof of insurance
from the Archdiocese of St. Paul/Minneapolis. The Prior Lake Police
Department has reported no problems with past temporary 3.2 liquor
licenses granted to the Church of St. Michael.
The City Council has the following alternatives:
1. Adopt a motion as part of the consent agenda approving the
temporary liquor license for the Church of St. Michael.
2. Deny the temporary 3.2 liquor license request.
Staff recommends Council approve the temporary 3.2 liquor license
for the Church of St. Michael for Saturday, February 9, 2002.
