Ryan Park Bleachers MEETING DATE: AGENDA #: PREPARED BY: REVIEWED BY: AGENDA ITEM: DISCUSSION: CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT March 18, 2002 4G AI Friedges, Parks Supervisor Bud Osmundson, Public Works Director CONSIDER APPROVAL OF A RESOLUTION APPROVING QUOTES FOR BLEACHERS. History: At the February 19, 2002 City Council meeting, the Council authorized staff to solicif quotes for bleachers in accordance with the purchasing policy for Thomas Ryan Memorial Park. Quotes have been solicited accordingly and the purpose of this agenda item is to seek authorization to proceed with the purchase of four (4) 10-row sets of bleachers. The .funding source is identified in the Parks Capital Improvement Program (CIP). Current Circumstances: Bleacher safety requirements have been updated in the: last few years as the result of injuries to users. The 10-row bleachers will be installed for spectator seating behind the four baseball and softball fields at Thomas Ryan Park. The bleachers will provide comfort for spectators while keeping them in an area away from potentially dangerous field of play. Conclusion: It is appropriate for the City Council to approve the acquisition of bleachers so that Thomas Ryan Park will have facilities for spectators when it opens. FISCAL IMPACT: There is $35;000 identified in the Capitaj Park Improvement portion of the CIP. This will be sufficient to fund the $27,184.13 acquisition recommended in this report. ALTERNATIVES: (1) Adopt the Resolution authorizing the expenditures for four (4) 10-row sets of bleachers from St. Croix Recreation Co. The City Council authorizes an expenditure from the Capital Park Fund in an amount not to exceed $27,184.13 to acquire four (4) 10-row sets of bleachers from St. Croix Recreation Co. Inc. 3.
