CONSIDER APPROVAL OF A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING FULL AND
FINAL PAYMENT TO KEYS WELL DRILLING COMPANY FOR THE
CONSTRUCTION OF WELL NO.6, CITY PROJECT NO. 02-00.
Historv
On December 4, 2000, the City entered into a contract with Keys Well Drilling
Company for the construction of Well No.6, City Project No. 02-00. All work under
the contract has been completed and this agenda item requests full and final payment.
This is the final payment only for the contract for the drilling of the well; the
construction of the pumphouse was completed under a separate contract.
Current Circumstances
The final payment is for $7,808.00 for a total contract amount of $241,555.50. This is
$38,414.50 under the original contract amount of $279,970.00. This is due to not using
the total amount of the individual bid items as shown on the attached "Voucher Detail
List". The geology of the well was different then what was expected, which is quite
normal with wells.
Conclusion
It is staffs recommendation to approve the final payment as requested
The final total amount paid on the contract for the construction of Well No. 6 was
$241,555.00. The funds will be drawn from the Trunk Utility Fund.
There are three alternatives for the City Council to consider:
1. Approve a resolution authorizing full and final payment to Keys Well Drilling
Company for the construction of Well No.6, City Project No.02-00.
2. Table this agenda item for a specific reason.
3. Deny this agenda item or a specific reason and provide staff with direction.

DRILLING COMPANY FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF WELL NO.6

WHEREAS,
Keys Well Drilling Company was awarded the contract for construction of Well
No.6, City Project No. 02-00; and
WHEREAS,
Keys Well Drilling Company has in all respects completed the contract for
construction of Well No.6; and
WHEREAS,
The original contract for the construction of Well No.6 was $279,970.00; and
WHEREAS,
The final contract amount is $241,555.50; and
-
WHEREAS,
Staff recommends acceptance of the project and full and final payment of the
contract.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF PRIOR LAKE,
MINNESOTA, that
1. The recitals set forth above are incorporated herein
2. Final payment is hereby authorized to be made to Keys Well Drilling Company in the
amount of$7,808.00 for the contract to construct Well No.6 from the Trunk Utility
Fund.
