Home My WebLink About4J - Liquor License Renewals MEETING DATE: AGENDA #: PREPARED BY: AGENDA ITEM: DISCUSSION: CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT JUNE 17,2002 4J JANET RINGBERG, LICENSE CLERK CONSIDER APPROVAL OF A RESOLUTION APPROVING 2002-2003 RENEWAL OF LIQUOR LICENSES Current Circumstances The Prior Lake City Code provides that the City Council must approve the renewal of On-Sale Intoxicating, Sunday Liquor, Off-Sale Intoxicating, Off-Sale 3.2 Malt Liquor, On-Sale Intoxicating, and Club Licenses. All ofthe licenses expire on June 30 of each year. Attached is a list of the establishments requesting renewal of their liquor licenses. The Issues The Prior Lake Police Department has completed a background check for each of the licensees and has reported that five license violations occurred in the past year. Express Gas & Groceries, Extra Innings Saloon, EZ Stop, Hollywood Bar & Grill, and Prior Lake VFW were all cited for selling alcohol to minors during a compliance check in 2001. As a result, the City Council imposed suspensions and/or fines in accordance with city code. All applicants have provided the City with renewal applications, fees and proof of liquor liability insurance. Prior Lake City Ordinance 301.600 states that no license shall be granted for operation on any premises on which taxes, assessments or other financial claims of the city are delinquent or unpaid. The Scott County Treasurer's records show that all property taxes for all renewal applicants are current. ALTERNATIVES: The City Council has the following alternatives: 1. Adopt a resolution as part of the consent agenda approving the renewal of the liquor licenses listed on Exhibit A for 2002 - 2003 . 2. Remove this item from the consent agenda for further discussion. 3. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF PRIOR LAKE, as follows: 1. The recitals above are incorporated herein, 2. Exhibit A referenced above are incorporated herein if fully set forth, 3. The liquor licenses for the premises set forth in Exhibit A are hereby approved for the period July 1,2002 to June 30, 2003 and, 4.
