AGENDA ITEM: SWEARING IN CEREMONY FOR POLICE OFFICER.
PRESENTATION: In March 2001, Bill and I initiated a new tradition of conducting a brief swearing in
ceremony as part of the regular City Council meeting. The swearing in ceremony
is a great opportunity for Councilmembers and the general public to get to know
our newest police officers.
Todd Deming is the newest officer to join the Prior Lake Police Department. Todd
is from Plainview, Minnesota, and a graduate of Plainview High School. He also
attend Rochester Community College and complete his law enforcement skills at
Hibbing. Todd has been with the Hennepin County Sheriff's Department since
1998 were he worked in the jail and as a Court Bailiff. Law Enforcement is in
Todd's family as his brother is also an officer with the Apple Valley Police
Department.
The ceremony would consist of the following:
1. Police Chief O'Rourke will introduce and provide some background
information about the new police officer.
2. The Mayor will administer the attached oath to the officer and award their
badge.
3. The Mayor will call a recess so the officer can arrange to have his badge
pinned on his uniform by the person of his choice for pictures.
