History Planning Commissioner Dick Kuykendall submitted his resignation in December for a term expiring on 10/30/00. Economic Development Authority Commissioner Bob Jader moved out of Prior Lake and the passing of Dick Underferth leaves two vacancies on the EDA. Current Circumstances Notices have been placed in the newspaper on numerous occasions regarding both vacancies. In addition, potential candidates have been encouraged to apply as provided in the Bylaws. Two applicants have expressed an interest in the Planning Commission. A greater number have indicated an interest in the Economic Development Authority. Planning Commission applicants are interviewed by a committee consisting of the Planning Commission Chair, City Council liaison to the Planning Commission, and myself. Economic Development Authority candidates are interviewed by the Mayor. Conclusion Christine Walsh and Margi Atwood have been interviewed for the Planning Commission vacancy. Both candidates have solid qualifications. The committee recommends appointment of Margi Atwood to a three-year term concluding October 30,2003. The Mayor will make recommendations for the EDA appointments at the City Council meeting. (1) Motion and second to appoint Margi Atwood to the Planning Commission for a term to expire 10/30/03. (2) Motion and second to confirm the Mayor's recommended appointments to the Economic Development Authority.
