CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT
JUNE 5, 2000
4B
JANET RINGBERG, LICENSE CLERK
CONSIDER APPROVAL OF AN ON-SALE WINE LICENSE
AND AN ON-SALE NON-INTOXICATING 3.2 MALT LIQUOR
LICENSE FOR LAKERS RESTAURANT
Current Circumstances
John Timothy Murphy, owner of Lakers Restaurant, is applying for an
on-sale wine license and an on-sale non-intoxicating 3.2 malt liquor
license in order to sell wine and 3.2 beer at his restaurant located at
15740 Highway 13. Both of these licenses would be valid from July 1,
2000 through June 30,2001, which is the normal license period for all
liquor licenses issued in Prior Lake.
The Issues
Mr. Murphy has completed the required forms for these licenses and
has provided the city with proof of liquor liability insurance. He has
paid the $1,250.00 wine license fee and the $200.00 on-sale non-
intoxicating liquor license fee, along with the $100.00 investigation
fee. A check with Scott County has confirmed that all property taxes
for Lakers Restaurant are paid and current. The Prior Lake Police
Department has completed its investigation and has found no reason to
deny this license request.
The City Council has the following alternatives:
1. Adopt a motion as part of the consent agenda approving the on-
sale wine license and the on-sale non-intoxicating liquor license.
2. Approve one license but not the other.
3. Deny both liquor license requests.
Staff recommends Council approve the on-sale wine license and the
on-sale non-intoxicating 3.2 malt liquor license for Lakers Restaurant.
