Re:. Bluff impact assessment for 3030 Fairview Road
Dear Mr. Berens:
At your request a site visit was conducted on April 27, 1998 to evaluate the subject lakeshore
property for the proposed addition to a single family residence. A certificate of survey, building
plans, and. city environmental ordinances were provided by you prior to the investigation.
The site occupies lots 7 and 8 of "Fairview Beach" at approximately 28 feet above the mean level
of the lake. A bluff impact'zone has been delineated within the northwest section of lot 7 and
includes 45 feet of lakeshore extending upa slope to within 12 feet of the north property line for
total depth of approximately 69 feet. Except for a small extension of appr~ximately three feet to
the existing residence on the north side, all new construction requiring excavation to frost footing
elevation will be south of the existing structure within lot 8, and not within the bluff impact zone.
Based on the data provided to us and our visual observations of the property, we were able to
establish that no excavation will be conducted within the designated bluff impact zone. The
proposed deck area adjacent to the zonej will be constructed with conventional pier supports
which provide minimal.disruption of surrounding soils.

It is our further opinion that the proposed house addition, including decks will not compromise any
slope by imposing loads or unstable conditions that may affect the safety of structures or slopes.
also, the proposed site development including landscaping has a minimal affect on the existing
7.~ drainage and will not obstruct, damage, or adversely affect eXisting sewer or drainage facilities,
will not adversely affect the qualities of storm water runoff, will not adversely affect downstream
properties, wetlands or bodies of water or result in erosion or sedimentation.
The aforementioned obseriations and opinions have been provided to the property owner in
compliance with Prior lake city codes and zoning ordinances.
