Prior to that, the Commissioners had received copies of the draft report to review. Following the presentation and discussion, the Planning Commission passed a motion declaring that the Guide was an appropriate vision for Downtown and recommending that the Council move forward with the project. In addition, Commissioners were told that if they had any specific comments, they should get them to staff by August 7. A presentation on the Downtown Redevelopment Guide has been scheduled for the August 7 Council meeting. This will serve two purposes. One, it will allow the public to hear the presentation and become informed on the proposals in the Guide and two, it will allow the Council additional review time and opportunity to ask questions. Staff is suggesting that any additional Council comments be received by August 18 so that all comments can be presented to the EDA at its' August 21 meeting. Canvas awnings are most desirable especially on sides of the street where sunlight control is a significant problem. Retractable canvas awnings create a variable facade, which creates more interest in even the simplest buildings. Graphics and signage on awnings should be modest in size, with proportions appropriate to the size of the awning. The form of the awning should be a simple shed form; metal and wood shake awnings should be avoided. ...~ . ,,*,,''; ".,wj ".,." ~ \.JooD-'5!lA~ ~ (U:O~ ~~ &cK-\..-tf" Pl..A'SfC. 5'14N v-xTl1 l5ull-bl^"<'~/~'f'I-I'- ~l~ ts/Wll!l\o MINT', ~ft' MMo,J(l'f Of'1l.4..> ufo s;vrt>f '"'Itll 'c~ ~ it:I ~TC:..H ...,')rI~1'<<" ".ill)~ Op'" 15u\"l)I.v~ K~ CA/.J\J!CS ~WNIt..G(S ~LN:" WI~WSI ~ ~III:L ol" ""w:~'S 1b -SDM6111IV~ 01ll~ ~~ c~ ~h ~ 1l>~~ 1"k~ l'vIL.obIN&( .....tj..j..
