AGENDA ITEM: CONSIDER APPROVAL OF RESOLUTION OO~ APPOINTING A PERSON
TO FILL THE EXISTING COUNCIL VACANCY.
DISCUSSION: !:J!sto!X: As a result of the vacanCY on the CitY Council created by the
resignation of Pete Schenck. the CitY has accepted applications from residents
whO are interested in serving on the City Council.
Q.urrent Circumstan~: The City Council has reviewed the five applications
received from the candidates. taken the opportunity to talk with candidates by
phone or In person and listened to presentations from the candidates at the last
council meeting.
Q.onclusio!!: The City Council needs to fill the vacancy by appointing a neW
member to the City Council. This appointment would be effectiVe october 2,
2000 through December 31. 2001. Minnesota statutes provide that the Mayor
shall make the appointment in the event of a tie vote by the four members of the
council.
The City Council should proceed on this appointment in an expedient but diligent
manner SO there are again five members on the City Council.
(1) Motion to adopt Resolution OO-XX appointing _ ~ be.Ska. to
fill the current vacancy on the City Council with the term of this appointment
expiring on December 31,2001.
(2) Defer action to the next regular City Council meeting.

A RESOLUTON APPOINTING A PERSON TO FILL
THE EXISTING CITY COUNCIL VACANCY.

WHEREAS,
the City Council has publicly solicited applications to fill the currently vacant position on
the City Council; and
WHEREAS,
such solicitation has resulted in the receipt of five applications; and
WHEREAS,
Council members had the opportunity to talk individually with each applicant; and
WHEREAS,
at the regular City Council meeting of September 5, 2000, the City Council heard
presentations or received written comments from each of the applicants.
Now THEREFORE, be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Prior Lake that the following are
hereby adopted:
1. Effective October 2, 2000, the City Council hereby appoints JO( c./~sk2
vacancy on the City Council, the term of which expires on December 31, 2001.
