OBSERVATIONS/TESTING : On Jan. 27, 2012, we observed the soils exposed in the excavation for the residence. Fill was exposed in the bottom of the excavation. The majority of the fill did not appear to be adequately compact. We recommended the fill be removed. On Jan. 30, 2012, we observed the removal of the fill. Naturally deposited clay soils were observed in the bottom of the excavation. We judged these soils to be suitable to support the fill and foundation loadings. We also performed compaction tests in the fill placed to re- attain grade in the building area. The results of the tests met or exceeded the minimum recommended compaction level at the locations and elevations tested. A field report of the tests are attached.
