BOX 359 PRIOR LAKE, MINNESOTA 55372 CITY OF PRIOR LAKE PRIOR LAKE PLANNING COMMISSION - MINUTES - October , 1981 The October 1, 1981 meeting of the Prior La'.: Planning Commission was called to order at 7:30 P.M. by Vice - Chairman Roseth. Present at the meeting were Commissioner's Arnold, Foster, Fitzgerald, and City Planner Graser. The minutes of the previous meeting were reviewed. Motion was made by Commissioner Fitzgerald and seconded by Foster to approve the minutes as written. Upon a vote taken, the motion was duly passed. Item I, Land Use Discussion for Tom Johnson, Mid State Towing was called to order. Tom Johnson was present to answer questions. City Planner Graser commented on this request. He noted that Mr. Johnson is requesting to put a business in a B -1 limited zoned area of medium density which is non - conforming. .Staff recommended denial. The business should be placed in an area with compatible land u4 .. Commissioner Fitzgerald made a motion to deny the request for Mid State Towing it would be expansion of a non - conforming use and the proposal is not compatible with the comprehensive plan and due to offensive nature of business in the proximity of a highly traveled arterial $ residential surroundings. The motion was seconded by Commissioner Foster. Upon a vote taken, the motion was duly passed. Item II, A Home Occupation Permit for Linda Ahl was called to order. Linda Ahl was present to answer questions. The Planning Commissioners discussed this item. It was the consensus of the Planning ion that a permit be granted with the following conditions: 1.) provide off street parking (2 stalls) 2.) operation limited to owner 3.) city to review operation for conformance at least once a year 4.) with proper licenses & approval from the state Motion was made by Commissioner Foster to grant a Home Occupation Permit with the aforementi conditions, seconded by Commissioner Arnold. Upon a vote taken, the motion was duly passed. Item III, discussion on set -back of gas tank at Deep Rock was called to order. John Nelson wa present to answer questions. Discussion was made concerning the set back of the propane tank. The applicant presented facts and explained the reason for the current location of the tank, which is next to the Hwy 1.3 and business sign. After a lengthy discussion the Commission felt the gas tank should remain in the current location since it is the best location with mini —I risk to structure and people. Motion was made by Commissioner Arnold to adjourn the Planning Commission meeting, seconded by Commissioner Fitzgerald. Upon a vote taken, the motion was passed.
