PRIOR LAKE PLANNING ADVISORY COMMISSION
Minutes of March 17. 1977
The Prior Lake Planning Commission was called to order by Chairman
Thorkelson at 7:3S on Thursday, March 17, 1977. Members present were
Commissioners Klein, Hafermann, Cavill, Councilman Busse and City Manager
McGuire.
The minutes of the February 17, 1977 meeting were corrected to read (5th
paragraph), "future subdivisions have underground electrical wiring and
communication lines." Minutes were motioned for approval by Klein,
seconded by Hafermann and upon a vote taken were duly passed.
First item on the agenda was a conditional use permit for Mrs. Delores
Blohm. Mrs. Blohm is proposing to construct a two family home on lot 1,
block 2, Blohms First Addition. Motion was made by Cavill to approve the
conditional use permit because it is adjacent to a County Road with high
traffic volume and also the vacant area to the south has been approved
for R -2 townhome development. The lot is of sufficient size to meet the
zoning ordinance. Also a two family dwelling would not be detrimental
to the property values in the immediate area. Seconded by Klein and upon
a vote taken, motion duly passed.
Second item on the agenda was a variance request for Al Otos Jr. The
applicant was asking for a 2 foot variance on the south, a five foot front
yard variance, a 1 foot side yard variance from the north property line and -
a 20.5 foot variance from the lakeshore setback requirements. After some
discussion, motion was made by Hafermann to approve the variance request
since it would not be detrimental to adjacent property values and it is
consistent with neighborhood development, seconded by Cavill and upon a vote
taken, motion duly passed.
A suggestion was made to have an ordinance drawn up on regard to having
sealed septic systems for new homes with no sewer and water.
Motion was made by Hafermann to recommend to the Council for approval
Resolution 7177 -1, seconded by Cavill and upon a vote taken, motion was duly
passed.
Motion was made by Klein to adjourn, seconded by Hafermann and upon a vote
taken, this meeting was adjourned at 9:00 P.M.
