1) Clean Steel Deck and 15ar Joist Ceiling of dirt, dust, loose rust or other contaminants using
detergents, de- greaser, manual scrubbing, pressure washing or other appropriate means in accordance
with SSPC -SPi. Pressure Washing has been tested for this project and seems to be sufficient means, if
followed by Hand Tool Cleaning to remove ALL loose surface rust and other loose surface
contamination. Pressure Washing should Include a minimum of 2500 psi at the tip using a rotating nozzle.
All surfaces shall be-clean, dry and -free of surface contaminants prior to coating system application.
Examine ceiling for penetrations and repair if necessary. Tightly Adhered Rust may be left on the ,
surface. Prime immediately after this surface is dry and in sound condition. '
2) Surface shall be examined by a Sherwin Williams Coatings Representative to insure all loose
contamination is removed prior to coatings system application.
