The pri- mary purpose of the Meet -N -Greet event has been to provide business leaders with an opportunity to share their concerns, suggestions or opinions regarding business development in the city with EDAC members, elected and appointed officials and city staff. Current Circumstances During their February meeting, EDAC members finalized certain aspects of the event including the April 25 date and the location at Fong's Event Center as well as rebranding of the event from a Meet -N -Greet to a Business & Industry Forum. This event will begin with a short networking session and a brief presentation followed by a discussion of concerns or issues facing Prior Lake businesses. The meeting format will encourage an open dialogue and attempt to identify specific issues which can be addressed by the EDA, EDAC and city staff throughout 2013. The EDA and EDAC members would be stationed at tables to help facilitate discussion. Conclusion During the February meeting, the EDAC discussed whether the event should continue to be hosted solely by the EDAC or the potential value of partnering with another organization, such as the Chamber of Commerce and /or Economic Development Authority. Because both the EDA and EDAC have shared goals of promoting growth and development, the EDAC recommended this event be co- sponsored by the EDA in 2013. The EDA's duties as a co- sponsor would be to attend the meeting (if available) and assist the EDAC members with facilitating discussion at the small group tables. ISSUES: EDA members should discuss the Business & Industry Forum and determine if they wish to assist the EDAC and co -host the event. FINANCIAL The EDAC expects to spend approximately $800 for this event from the EDA IMPACT: Budget. ALTERNATIVES: 1.
