On October 31, 1995 the city accepted bids for this project. On the same date at 2:30 p.m., the bids were read aloud and recorded. In total, there were 9 bids submitted. The lowest base bid was $137,567.00 which exceeded the project budget amount by $62,567.00. The architects estimate for the construction of this facility was $75,000.00. Funding for this project was approved as part of the 1995 capital Improvement Program. A total of $65,000.00 was budgeted for this project with $50,000 slated for hard construction costs. The additional $25,000.00 for the construction of this facility would come from a $10,000.00 donation from the Prior Lake Amateur Baseball Association. Another $8,000.00 would come from the savings realized from the Grainwood Crossing project. (The Grainwood Crossing savings was a result of using city staff for design and construction, as well as using Sentence to Service crews.) There is also $10,000.00 in the C.I.P. that was earmarked for Memorial Park improvements that would be used to supplement the funding of this project. 16200 ~I~ Ave. S.E., Prior Lake. Staff feels confident that we can construct this building for $75,000.00 or less by using local contractors, volunteers, and soliciting material donations. Staff will pursue bids for the project elements and continue our discussions with the various user groups and sub-contractors. The nine bids received ranged from $137,567.00 to $155,560.00. Bid tabulations are listed on the attached Resolution 95-113. ALTERNATIVES: The alternatives are as follows: 1. Approve Resolution 95-113 rejecting all bids 2.- Table this item for a specific reason. RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends Alternative #1 which approves Resolution 95-113 rejecting all bids for the Memorial Park concesion/restroom building.
