RESOLUTION OF THE PRIOR LAKE CI1Y COUNCIL TO APPROVE TWO
VARIANCES FOR. AL SKAlA AT 16511 DULUTH AVENUE, PRIOR. LAKE,
PERMITTING AN ADDITION TO HIS NON-CONFORMING USE AND THE
CONSTRUCTION OF A POLE BUILDING IN AN R-2 URBAN RESIDENTIAL
ZONING DISTRICT.

WHEREAS, the City Council held a hearing on the 19th day of July, 1993 to consider
variance applications for AI Skaja; and
WHEREAS, The City Council of Prior Lake has adopted the following fmdings of fact:
1. The subject site is a large tract of land with only a small portion buildable, the
remaining land being unbuildable.
2. The topography of the buildable portion of the site is unique and restricts
development options.
3. The buildable portion of the site has been used for commercial purposes by AI
Skaja for 20 years without compliant or incidents.
4. The site abuts commercial property on the east and south.
5. The existing commercial strocture is a large agricultural barn and the addition
constitutes less than 50% of the barn.
6. The bam and addition cannot be readily viewed from abutting properties because
it is shielded by dense woods.
7. The grant of the variances with conditions will not result in a significant increase
in its use, and will pennit the applicant to continue his business in this
competitive environment.
8. The denial of the variance request would have an adverse impact on the applicant
and his employees.
9. The grant of the variances would observe the spirit and intent of the ordinance and
produce substantial justice and is not contrary to the public interest.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CIlY COUNCIL OF PRIOR LAKE,
MINNESOTA, that it hereby does approve the variances subject to the following:

AN EQUAL OPPORTUNITY EMPLDYER
1. The addition must comply with all building codes.
2. There be no further expansion of the building.
3. The use of the addition is restricted to Valley Sign Company and runs with the
business, not the land.
