FOR 1994 PRIMARY & GENERAL ELECTIONS

APPOINTMENTS
INTRODUCTION:
A primary and general election are scheduled this fall for September 13,
1994 and Tuesday November 8, 1994 respectively for the purpose of
electing candidates for the following offices:
FEDERAL
United States Senator
United States Representative
STATE
Governor & Lieutenant Governor
Secretary of State
State Auditor
State Treasurer
Attorney General
COUNTY
County Attorney
County Sheriff
SCHOOL BOARD
Two Board members
Also included on the election ballot will be a District 719 school board
referendum question to issue $19,160,000 of general obligation bonds to
finance the following improvements:
1. Construction of a new elementary school.
2. Remodeling of Prior Lake Senior High, Hidden Oaks Middle
School, Westwood Elementary School and Five Hawks
Elementary School.
3. Technology equipment.
4. General facility upgrade.
Both elections will be a joint effort between the City and School District,
with City Staff coordinating the process. The City Council must authorize
the appointment of election judges to conduct the election day activities.
DISCUSSION: This will be the third year of the implementation of the new redistricting
plan which increased the number of election precincts from three to five.
Therefore the public should be fairly familiar with the new alignment by
now.

The assigned polling places for the five precincts are located respectively
as follows along with their current registered voter count:

Totai registered voter count is presently at 7,448. Each precinct will be
staffed with 6 election judges with the exception of Precinct #4 which will
have 4 judges. Within the precincts, there is relative party baiance as
required by election law.
The polls shail be open from 7:00 A.M. to 8:00 P.M. The judges will
report to their appropriate precinct location one hour prior to the polls
opening for set-up preparation. As in past years, the judges shail be paid
$5.00 per hour.
Attached is a list of election judges indicated by precinct. Staff has
contacted the judges and each has expressed interest in serving in this
year's elections. Staff would recommend appointment of those judges
