AGENDA #: PREPARED BY: SUBJECT: DATE: PRESENTATION: AGN5A.WRT STAFF AGENDA REPORT A 5A r r~~ FRANK BOYLES, CITY MANAGER; --\, \ ) PRESENTATION BY LES SONNAB~EGARDING SEPTEMBER 13, 1994 BOND REFERENDUM AND CONSIDER RESOLUTION RS94-53 AUGUST 15,1994 Les Sonnabend has asked for fifteen minutes at the August 15 meeting to share with the Council information about the proposed September 13, 1994 $19,160,000 bond referendum which is to be used to construct new facilities, renovate existing facilities and acquire land for future school buildings. (612) 447-4230 / Fax (612) 447-4245 AN EQUAL OPPORTUNfIY EMPLOYER 1! * MOTION BY: WHEREAS, WHEREAS, WHEREAS, WHEREAS, WHEREAS, {Seal} RS9453.wRT RESOLUTION 94-53 A RESOLUTION EXPRESSING SUPPORT FOR THE PRIOR LAKE/SAVAGE SCHOOL DISTRICT SECONDED BY: strong, effective schools are an essential pre-condition to a strong society; and effective schools districts are equally dependent upon an aggressive, education oriented administration and teacher corps, coupled witn facilities and equipment which are conducive to education; and the Prior Lake/Savage School District has increased its available teacher corps through last year's $1,500,000 referendum; and the School District has attempted to establish long range improvement objectives through its Facilities Study Committee; and such basic building improvements and construction projects cannot be funded through the existing budget. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF PRIOR LAKE, MINNESOTA, that it does support the efforts of the Prior Lake Savage School District to maintain high quality education for our youth and facilities and equipment which are conducive to learning. I would also request, if the council is willing, a resolution of support for this issue. Please call me if you have questions concerning this request.
