HomeMy WebLinkAbout9B - 1996 Council Goals STAFF AGENDA REPORT DA TE: ~~NK BOYLES, CITY MANAGE~\ CONSIDER PROVIDING DIRECTION ON OTENTIAL 1996 CITY COUNCIL GOALS AND OBJECTI S JANUARY 2, 1996 AGENDA #: PREPARED BY: SUBJECT: BACKGROUND: Annually the City Council adopts a set of goals and objectives which guide council activities for the coming year. This agenda item requests Council discussion of possible goals and objectives for 1996. Final approval of the goals and objectives would occur at the January workshop. DISCUSSION: Attached is a legislatively formatted copy of the City Council top priority goals. As the Council can see, the document shows the 1995 City Council top priority goals and their status with respect to completion. I have made revisions to the 1995 goals as a means of suggesting the Council's 1996 top priority goals. Language which is stricken through is to be deleted, while language to be added is underscored. The Council can also see I have renumbered the goals. ISSUES: The Council should determine whether it wishes to add, delete or modify from these top priority goals. I will use these goals as the basis for making revisions to the strategic plan and tactical elements for the Council's workshop. Since the top priority goals will also be a discussion item at the workshop it is not necessary for the Council to finalize these goals on January 2, but to simply discuss them briefly as food for thought prior to our January meeting. RECOMMENDA liON: Review and briefly discuss the goals in anticipation of a more complete review and final approval at the January 19/20 Winter Workshop. Attachment 16200 E~~2ffiek Ave. S.E..
