VARIOUS ADVISORY COMMITTEES
JANUARY 16,1996
AGENDA #:
PREPARED BY:
SUBJECT:
BACKGROUND:
During the months of November and December, ads were
placed in the Prior Lake American soliciting applications for
persons interested in serving on the Parks Advisory,
Business Development and Lake Advisory committees.
This memorandum recommends appointments to each of
the above referenced committees.
Existing vacancies in the Park Advisory, Business
Development and Lake Advisory committees is discussed
below:
Park Advisory Commission - There are two present
openings in this seven member committee. Five
applications (attached) were received from various
individuals. All five individuals were interviewed. The
subcommittee recommends that the City Council appoint
Thomas Schultz to a term expiring September, 1996 and
Thea Fluhrer to a term expiring September, 1997. At that
time the Council can determine whether it wishes to
reappoint each of these individuals to full terms.
Business Development Committee - One opening exists on
the Business Development Committee as a result of the
election of Wes Mader to the City Council and consequent
resignation from the committee. One individual expressed
an interest in appointment to the Business Development
Committee. The subcommittee would recommend that the
City solicit additional applications for this position.
Lake Advisory Committee - The Lake Advisory Committee
has one opening because of the resignation of Bill Packer.
The subcommittee interviewed Tom Foster and Sally
Schmidt. The subcommittee recommends that Sally

. Prior Lake resident (living on Upper Prior Lake)

4. Briefly describe your interest in this position and how you can serve the community:
My husband and I bought our home on Prior Lake early this year. Since that time, I have
been trying to learn as much as I can about the lake, the watershed district and the
community as a whole. As a relative newcomer to the area, I can offer a valuable
perspective on lake-related issues. For example, how are new Prior Lake residents
educated to be certain our community resources are properly used, maintained and
preserved? As a business owner, I have flexibility with my time. I also have extensive
experience in research and planning, and believe I would be a great asset in developing
and reporting on the ideas generated by the committee or its constituents.
