HomeMy WebLinkAbout4C - Trails & Pkg Lot Bids AGENDA #: 4C PREP ARED BY: PAUL HOKENESS, PARKS AND RECREATION DIRECTOR SUBJECT: CONSIDER APPROVAL OF RESOLUTION 96-45 AUTHORIZING THE PREPARATION OF PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS AND THE SOLICITATION OF BIDS FOR TRAILS AND PARKING LOTS IDENTIFIED IN THE 1996 CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM. DATE: MAY 6, 1995 INTRODUCTION: The purpose of this Agenda item is to authorize staff to proceed with the preparation of specifications and the solicitation of bids for the following 1996 Capital Improvement Program (C.I.P.) Parks and Trail projects: 1. Cardinal Ridge Trail and Parking Lot 2. Westbury Ponds Trail 3. Wilderness Ponds/Pond's Park Trail 4. Raspberry Ridge Parking Lot The first three projects on the above list were approved by Council as part of the 1996 Parks and Trails C.I.P. Council approved the addition of Raspberry Ridge parking lot at the March 18, 1996 meeting as an amendment to the 1996 Parks and Trails C.I.P. 16200 ~l~~k Ave. S.E., Prior Lake, Minnesota 55302-1714 / Ph. (612) 447-4230 / Fax (612) 447-4245 AN EQUAL OPPORTUNITY EMPLOYER ISSUES: FUNDING: The estimated costs of the proposed projects are summarized below. Project Approved CIP Funding Westbury Ponds $10,000 Trail Wilderness Pond $25,000 Trail Cardinal Rid~e $65,000 Trail Raspberry Rid~e $20,000 Parkin~ Lot Total $120,000 The total budgeted for these trail and parking lot projects for 1996 is $120,000. financing of the projects is through The Capital Park fund. ALTERNATIVES: The alternatives are as follows: 1. Approve Resolution 96-45 authorizing design and preparation of plans and specification and authorize the solicitation of bids for the 1996 Trail and Parking Lot projects. 2. Table this Agenda item for a specific reason. 3. Deny this Agenda item for a specific reason. RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends Alternative No.1. This alternative would allow the connections of trails as were identified in the Comprehensive Park and Trail Plan. The addition of the two parking lots would help alleviate the problem of on- street parking in these two residential areas. AGTRAILS.DOC 3 FINANCIAL IMPACT: ACTION REQUIRED: AGTRAILS.DOC The total estimated cost of the four projects is $120,000. These funds are available through the Capital Park Funds. Motion and second to approve Resolution 96-45. Upon receipt of the bids the City Council will be asked to award the contract to the lowest responsible bidder.
