HomeMy WebLinkAbout4J - Temp Liquor License STAFF AGENDA REPORT AGENDA #: PREPARED BY: SUBJECT: DATE: (4)J LAURIE DAVIS-FRIEDGES TEMPORARY 3.2 LIQUOR LICENSE FOR PRIOR LAKE JAYS/MUDCATS BASEBALL SEASON APRIL 15,1996 INTRODUCTION: The Prior Lake Jays/Mudcats Baseball teams are requesting a 3.2 Temporary Liquor License in order to sell 3.2 beer throughout their regular season. BACKGROUND: Regular season play is from May 5, 1996 through August 18, 1996. The Prior Lake Jays/Mudcats have requested and been granted this temporary liquor license since 1990. Zero problems have been recorded with Prior Lake Police Department in regard to this license. DISCUSSION: The Prior Lake Jays/Mudcats have included the pre-set fee of $160.00 ($5.00 per game), with their request and application. This fee has not been raised since 1990 but it is not recommended that the fee be raised at this time as beer sales are a form of fund raising for the baseball teams. They have applied for Dram Shop Insurance through the Minnesota Joint Underwriters Association which held their dram shop insurance last season. ALTERNATIVES: Prior Lake City Council may approve this 3.2 Temporary Liquor License or deny this license. RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends the Prior Lake City Council approve this license for May 5, 1996 through August 18, 1996 for the Prior Lake Jays/Mudcats Amateur Baseball Teams pending Dram Shop Insurance through Minnesota Joint Underwriters Association. ,. approved, the Mayor and City Manager will need to sign the attached license and return it to Laurie Davis-Friedges in the License Department.
