JUNE 3, 1996 T om Loftus will be leaving the Planning Commission effective June 30, 1996 under provisions of the term limit policy. On May 29, 1996, in accordance with the City Council's Bylaws, a committee consisting of Mayor Lee Andren, Planning Commission Chair Dick Kuykendall, Planning Director Don Rye and myself interviewed two candidates for the Planning Commission opening. Attached for Council information are the applications provided by the two candidates. Both candidates were seen as positive additions to the City's advisory bodies. Anthony Stamson was seen by the committee as the more experienced of the two candidates since he has served on the Park Board in the City of Savage and presently serves on the Prior Lake/Savage School Year Around Education Study Committee. In addition, Anthony's natural interests seem to lie in development related issues, whether in Prior Lake or in other communities. F or these reasons, the committee recommends that Anthony Stamson be appointed effective July 1, 1996 to the Planning Commission vacancy created by the term limit of Tom Loftus. The committee further recommends that John Blatzheim be re-interviewed by a sub-committee including Jody Stroh and Engineering staff representative for consideration to serve on the Lake Advisory Committee to fill the opening created by Tom Watkins' resignation.
